Glossary of Terms

Aje Butter - literally mean 'one who eats butter,' a colloquial term used for people who are supposedly posh.
Amebo - a nosy person (I am being nice) anyone who sticks their nose in other people's business especially uninvited is called an Amebo.
Bone face - an expression for keep a straight face
Chest it - an expression for "take it in stride"
Jor - really spelled without the 'r,' literally means please, but can be used in a polite or rude context depending on circumstances.
Naija - what real Nigerians call themselves
Nawa - an expression usually used to express amazement, disbelief or resignation
Senior Secondary School - West African schools are modeled according to the British school system. Secondary education is a 6 year period split into 2 halves with 3 years spent in Junior and Senior school equally. Secondary School is the what we  here in America call High School.
Shebi - used to express confirmation or agreement, used in place of "isnt it?" or "right?"
Yankee - what Nigerians prefer to call Americans or anything american
